The Hima Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the people and ecology of the lost kingdom of Loulan, Silk Road around the dessert Taklimakan

The lost kingdom Loulan is a magic place where once the most glory in history and trade of the world. But now here is one of the most dangerous place, the sea of death.

Only couple thousand of people, who were believed disappeared 2,000 years ago, live in the most difficult area. There is no education, no health care. The life is threat by the dessert and going to be forced out the land by sand storms. The traditional ways of life are in danger of disappearing.

The NewLoulan project is to respond to these pressing problems. What we do is very basic: plant trees, take care of children and elderly, and restore sacred sites throughout the lost kingdom. We also assist and encourage loulan people to rebuild and maintain their culture.

NewLoulan project is on a human scale and that directly benefit people. We deeply respect our partners in the dessert and our work responds to their priorities and concerns.

In every case, NewLoulan project involves local commitment and community participation.
